Who are we?

Black Owned Baby (BOB) started as an Instagram page in June 2020 to promote trendy Black-owned businesses for children and mothers. Why? The significance of the racial wealth gap has made it difficult for Black entrepreneurs to grow, invest in, or even successfully launch their business ventures. With this acknowledgement comes the need to support Black-owned businesses that are far and few in between, especially those in the children’s industry.

Since starting this brand 5 years ago, we have expanded our commitment to diversity and inclusion by welcoming a curated selection of BIPOC-owned brands to the Marketplace.

The BOB Marketplace features a carefully-curated list of my favorite products for children and mothers. You'll find a range of handpicked clothing, toys, and feeding essentials for baby, as well as some amazing self-care picks for mom. This collection will grow and change monthly - I encourage you to join the newsletter to stay abreast of new additions and news.

A Letter from the Founder

I am Norvella Dunwoody, a millennial balancing the worlds of motherhood, corporate success, and driving social change. As a dedicated mother to a spirited 4-year-old, I understand the needs and desires of modern families. Fueled by a passion for equality and empowerment, I embarked on a mission to create a platform that promotes and uplifts BIPOC businesses for mothers and children, while not losing sight of quality, aesthetic, and functionality. With a full-time management role at a major pharmaceutical company, I fearlessly embrace the challenge of championing diversity and supporting entrepreneurs of color.

Thank you for joining me on this transformative journey, where my passion and purpose can unite to create a better future for generations to come.
